"I can't believe she would make rules so plainly in her favor." You would do the same thing Tomu, or worse, you'd just straight up cheat.
Now, I expect gambling manga to feature protagonists that cheat or are at least "clever", outwitting their opponents with tricks. But there's no need for them to be hypocritical. For that and other reasons, Tomu is really unlikeable.
