I watched the anime before reading this manga. I don't really understand why it stuck with me, but all these years later I'm here.
It's annoying at times, but I like it. I think the manga expresses a few things better than the anime could. The panels with the seaweed girl were funny and pitiful in a way that couldn't be done with a still shot.
