Now like one reader says there is a big twist halfway through the story. Some readers hate it while others love it.
I'm in the love the story twist category.

So before you read it, you need to answer a question: "Are you a reader who gets emotionally attached to fictional people/settings and acts emotional to the point of being irrational at 180 degree plot twists?"
It's NTR bait. There's nothing deep or complex about being into that vs. people being grossed out over a fluff series rugpull turning into Boy's Abyss.

Could you just straight up spoil it?

Thank you for being an example of one of those people who are too emotionally attached to fictional characters. The amount of unbridled rage and hate Hikari fans display is really cringe inducing. Not only that, but despite their hate they still keep coming back every chapter and repeating themselves. Maybe they're masochists or are in denial of their NTR habit.

Why can't people just accept something is no longer for them and move on? If Yami doesn't win, I'll shrug my shoulders, finish the story, and move to the next manga. Why not just take a wait-and-see approach to things?

Hyperbole: "Yami must be flayed and burned at the stake!"

I have not read this manga, don't plan on doing so. However, it's not a particularly good look if the only defense there is for a plot is personal attacks against readers that don't share the same opinion of it. Just sayin.

Thanks for finishing up what was left! I'm glad to have seen it to this point. I can take this as an ending. There's not much else to say that isn't obvious. I'd rather have it go without being said than the trend of manga stories in recent years where the protag gets with the love interest, and then... nothing else happens for another 100 chapters. Better to end it on a high note. Thank you again, Pangapex, for finishing what was released!

The story is really not NTR bait by any stretch of the imagination. If that's what you got out of the story, I can only assume you either haven't read it or you're one of those people that are so horny/brain rotted that they can't help but see everything as lewd/kink/fetishism. I do think it's fine for people to not like how the direction of the story went, because it is very much a big change in mood from the first dozen chapters or so, but it doesn't make any sense to call it any kind of "bait". Some times real-life also has secrets and goes unexpectedly. The way the story presents this is realistic and honest story telling. It's not some kind of "bait" anymore than it would be bait to discover an acquaintance/friend of yours had some dark history.

It's kind of odd to assume the singular defense of the plot has been presented by a single person's opinion in a forum post. That's also not exactly a great look. There's a lot more to the story than anything to do with fetishes, waifus, or anything like that. The mood change isn't used as some kind of bait-and-switch. It's honest and valid story-telling, and I think it's done quite well. I can understand some people being upset by the extreme mood change, but that doesn't make it "bait" or a rugpull or anything like that. We're bordering on spoilers at this point, so the last thing I'll say is that plot twists have been a normal part of story telling for basically all of human history. This a plot twist that serves the story so far, fits the characters, and provides a meaningful explanation to cover a genre convention that helps the story become honest instead of being another tropey rom-com.
