It's hard on what to do in that situation ngl. Because you are a police working on a case where your suspect literally just came out from the prison and reportedly does the same disgusting crime again in his own neighborhood, and plus, you know that guy well in the past and have high regard for him. What kind of officer--. No. What kind of person that doesn't get pissed at that?

And add that with him, the officer having little to zero restraint on his emotion when doing his job basically all the time + him being a father that has a daughter + his daughter is the criminal target for his (once again) disgusting crime + his daughter is kind and defended the criminal, but instead it bites her back and turning her into a hostage by the criminal.

With all that factors put in into the equation, the result.. Will most likely be what just happened at the end of the chapter... Yeahh...

Tysm the chapter btw, Lemon-ade team!

I know the author trying to portray what the father did and how he acted not plain "good" or something not black and white but being more grey morally. Also, the way the daughter acts is basically the symbolic vehicle in showing that theme and sowing doubt to the father and us readers about his action. That all being said, not for second did I see what father was doing wrong. I don't think he failed as a parent and the daughter exposure to being around paedophile has clearly warp her mind on top on being just a child who doesn't clearly fully understand her actions even though she claims so. The paedophile and the daughter actions/thoughs changes nothing regarding the fathers actions, he absolutely did the right thing.

Wonder how the author will have this event effect future events in the story

This is the second time in this manga that they just sort of let the daughter roam off unattended. The first time I cam understand, since she snuck out. Still terrible parenting, but mistakes happen.
But now it makes even less sense that they let her roam the village and find the finger of a deceased cop earlier, considering how the last time she was allowed to roam around unattended, she ended up traumatized and mute (and things could've been worse). They even state in the first chapter that she has a propensity for running off, but the mom doesn't take it seriously until she sees the ominous writing on the wall. And why would they ever move into a house that they can't or haven't already child-proofed (a house that their kid can't easily escape from the second they aren't looking) knowing what they know? And now they won't leave the village where there is a clearly dangerous family that killed and ate a cop (the dad should know that by now)... because the kid likes it there??? Safety should be the priority. These two are irresponsible parents. And what's particularly bothering me about that is that the narrative isn't acknowledging that they're bad at parenting. As if they aren't making huge mistakes that any responsible parent would never make.

mashiro is just a kid, but godammit, she really pisses me off. the author even made it a point to show that she DOES know what pedo-kun there was doing in the neighborhood to contrast her naivety with daddy's jaded rage. daddy did absolutely nothing wrong, no one can say for sure if konno was seriously going to kill mashiro but he showed no signs of wanting to get out of there alive.
