From my understanding, old civilization researched immortality, used the "angel" with technologies to sort of achieve it, shit went sideways. Humanity is still a thing is because they dismembered the angel and actively use her limbs to prevent the degeneration created by the angel as revenge (?) and there's basically a power struggle for her power
edit: for the details don't ask me, it's been too long and I follow too many GLs

Basically:

Soul Core are what makes a person alive, when you die your soul reincarnate in a new body as a new person

Soul Shell is where our memories are stored, when we die our shells disappear

A few rare Souls reincarnate again and again without losing their memories of their past lives, both their Core and Shell keep moving to the next body, they're called Memory of The Planet due to that accumulated memories and knowledge

You can think of Soul as a computer, Souls are the OS, Shells are the HDD

Humans are not meant to be immortal, so in time their Shell becomes full, that's what causes a person in a Grey Body to devolve into a Monotsuki, maybe

Old humans we're doing research on the Soul to try fix that but they could only transfer it from one body to another

The Angel caused humans to mutate into Monotsuki too when it went berserker, but the story leaves vague if she was the cause of everything or if humans naturally muted over time

My assumption? There's multiple Angels around and they just happened to capture one, Angels are either created by the human collective subconscious / Soul or whatever, by the world in itself because all living beings are meant to die and return to it, Anima Mundi, or even fucking God itself

Because Angel can damage Grey Bodies they cut her corpse in 15 parts and that is what keeps all current cities safe from Monotsuki

So far the only real questions left are basically what started the old plague of Monotsuki, probably the Angel(s), why and where they come from, which will be either supernatural reasons or a weapon by another country, and what is the evil dude plan, which most likely is find a way to revive the humans he has

At least when it comes to Monotsuki it's clear there's only two options, either it's a natural result of immortality because humans aren't meant to live so long, only exception would be the rare Souls that are a Memory of The Planet, or something / someone sent the Angels to end humanity immortality by completely ruining Grey Bodies

Same lol, the story isn't as complex as it looks, problem is that it takes a while for new chapters to come so it's easy to forget the details

I mostly remember cause I'm way too invested in post apocalyptic lesbians :v

Well not only there's quite a bit of time between chapters but sometimes, author just dump a lot of info in one go and barely comes back on it later

I think it is because it answers part of the questions we have so it just moves on to the next question, it doesn't keep repeating same lore constantly like some writers do

This is one of those series better to read in one sit lol, I just hope it's doing well enough to not be canceled since the author is clearly cooking some good food if given the time

I think this one won't be canceled because romance is pretty clearly secondary, so it probably manages to stay popular enough in whatever magazine it is published

At least I get the impression that a lot of unusual yuri gets canceled because they're in non yuri magazine and still focus completely in the romance, that was definitely Sylph case at least

Yeah I did like the Sylph princess one but the space fishing, I kinda understand, it's just I've read so many, usually I need more than just a "shallow" story to grab my interest, and I won't even talk of stereotypes

Basicallty the twitter version is the original

I assume a magazine offered to officially serialize it

Didn't do super well, probably cause the magazine wasn't yuri and the story mostly focused on the romance

Manga got cancelled

Now she's continuing the story through her fanbox

There is a fan translation of those chapters, but they don't want it to be uploaded, if I remember correctly you basically prove you bought it and the translator will give you a file with the translation or something

It will also in time have official translation through her fanbox, which I imagine sooner or later will be ripped and uploaded somewhere else

Also, these chapters are continuation of the manga, so the original twitter version isn't canon anymore
