Well... At least he mentally understood that the excuse he gave was a stupid and weak one. That's some amount of self awareness I can appreciate.
Also, again. She was clearly told that the person of high skill did not possess a notable sword related skill to begin with. So there's really nothing here except delaying the obvious.
In any case. On the more obvious situation happening here. You got someone making annoying MTL with huge watermarks plastered all over their stuff.
Don't mind them, focus on your work.
I have a pragmatic view of this. In some cases there truly are some shitty trashy stories that will never be picked up by capable translator groups, and that sort of quick nasty rough MTL translation work has it's place for the ferocious demands of the consumer. But in the event that things overlap, there is always an appreciation for quality and consistency.
Like how people become up in arms when an official translation ends up being a localization where they utilize internet slang that mismatches either the time period or the character. Or when elements of the stories are censored up by the publishers like with Seven Seas. Fan translation that focuses on doing a good job will always be a demand and this is against corporations that offers supposedly high quality translation and localization work. Or when the fan translation is simply seen as having more polish and care.
So against quick acting MTL. They will get the speed, undeniably so. But being first isn't always the best. Like how back in retro gaming days, Hydlide was first, but Zelda was best. And we all know who won out in the end.
Pardon the side tracked subject. Have a nice day.
