Would the nickname 'Char' be an acceptable translation? Because 'Charo' is not a common (in fact I've never seen it before), abbreviation for Charlotte, and the vowel at the end is odd in English. Charlotte is often pronounced (/ˈʃɑːr.lət/) with a soft 'sh' at the beginning, so 'Charo' doesn't sound so bad, but it looks ugly on the page. do know that 'Chara' is a valid variant of the name but I kind of hate that. 'Charli' is also a frequently used nickname, but I don't know how much of a stretch it would be, and it's not as good as 'Char/Shar' anyway.
