was a chapter skipped?
Edit: looks like it, I did not want to read it just to be save and not be spoiled, but it opens up with the intro to a new volume, where it says that it actually is chapter 7, so yes, we did skip a chapter.

Tbh, it gets a bit silly when it becomes "oh, they aren't actually that much behind modernity, but this country in particular deliberately surpresses it because healing magic is justifying the rule"

In fairness, even countries in the real world suppress knowledge and information if it threatens the power structure and/or those currently at the top, thereby artificially "dumbing down" the populace in systemic fashion.

It's a good thing that isn't happening today. Oops, vaccines, climate change, and fluorinated water want to have a word...

That aside, thanks for the chapter, TL-sama.

I dig these kind of stories where someone from modern era works together with a reformist leader or prince

Looks like she took the hypocritic oath instead of the Hippocratic oath. Sounds like first, do harm is her mandate with that last page.

Silly? I suggest you look and observe more of your surroundings. It's happening even now. Why would you think people who sit on the throne of power would willingly risk, let alone give up, their power to the advancement of knowledge and technology? How did they sit on it in the first place?

"Making a mother of all omelettes here, Jack. Can't fret over every egg."

Jokes aside, that's just how it is with the advancement of an era. You adapt or get crushed, but either way, someone or something eventually had to be sacrificed. It's an ultimatum of "I'm about to advance medicine by at least a century, so you choose between not getting in the way or get swept by the revolution"

I like how this sounds like you're equating an oppressive governmental system of power with individual human beings in need of medical care.

She's absolutely still working toward the betterment of the health of people at large, and her agreeing to assist in tearing down the current system to ensure that eventual reality is effectively still upholding the oath healthcare workers take as it pertaind to advocating and seeking optimal outcomes for their patients.

It's why healthcare workers in unions going on strike to see their demands for adequate wages or workplace environments isn't betraying their oath.

Alas, their number one individual enemy seems to be the current queen. The king apparently loves the snake of a queen. A difficult situation. However, the established society and the whole power hierarchy in the nation still naturally remains as the largest enemy. Either they go for pretty much a revolution or they try to make the current healers understand that they are still extremely valuable. They can do things in minutes that could take weeks, even months, for modern, purely scientific medicine to achieve. If you combine the two, the results would be miraculous.

One concrete problem would be that many, I assume, of the current healers are healers not because they would want to or be interested in treating sick/wounded people, they are healers only because they happened to be born with a suitable magical talent for it. So, they are just doing it for the prestige and money. Like the one in this arc who was disgusted by needing to be close to the patient, yet wanted to turn it to benefit his career progress by actually having the patient die.

Working with a benevolent royal to tear down a corrupt and stagnating power structure propped up by a medical system in need of reform?

Finally, a power fantasy we can get behind.

You're talking about the juicy stuff but the fact that each of the ingredients are strung together in a single sentence makes me think you're from the ✨juicier✨ part of the fence lmao
