it's a little sad. i wonder if its because its a shoujo. i know series like vinland saga are allowed to have that time, so its sad something like this has to be rushed.
If we want to compare to Makoto Yukimura, the mangaka of Vinland Saga, his first serialisation (like Navin is) was Planetes, which "only" ran for four volumes. Admittedly, he hit it out the park straight away, as Planetes was a multiple award winning series, but he got his pacing right with that one instantly.
In all honesty, I just think that the mangaka is a little inexperienced and her editor seems to have strange ideas about plot and pacing. Navin's pre-cognitive powers are central to the inciting incident of the story, but then they disappear for no obvious reason (beyond Navin going "they've gone!") and have not been referred to again. It's very difficult to actually work out what is going on, in my opinion, in chapter 3, to rile the King so much - how does he actually end up bleeding? Added to the issues with this chapter I've already recounted, there's just a lot of issues here that feel less about "not liking the plot" and more about "this isn't brilliantly put together".
