Answer here: MAJOR SPOILERS. Read at own risk. Or if you don’t care. Includes spoilers of last volume.
Warning many of the answers will seem stupid. And I will repeat this phrase: “No I’m not kidding” You have been warned. Also have an aspirin ready for your eventual headache.

He’s on a different planet in the far far far future in the same universe as his Earth.

He discovers that Earth continued advancing to being able to do things like space travel, sci-fi experiments like creating new beings and such. However, at some point the humans of Earth lost hope for some reason and returned to Earth and became shut ins. No I’m not kidding.

The planet he’s on is the result of one of the experiments. The planet was abandoned and the tech on the world became disused and basically some of it broke, and long years after basically resulted in the current world.

Dungeons and Dungeon cores? Laboratories to creating new creatures, however they are now malfunctioning and sending out monsters. The current continent he’s on, is just the southern half of the planet there’s a northern half. The Northern half has even bigger versions of monsters going around.

All the races we see in this series, all created and flourished. And can procreate with each other. Souma is an old human, the humans on this world are new and don’t share the same ancestry as Souma as they were created for the most part initially and procreated and resulted in the world it is in story.

Magic?
NANOMACHINES, SON! No, I am not kidding. Magic is handled by nanomachines. The cursed ore is basically a clump of nanomachines.

Who is the Demon Lord?
A vocaloid. No I’m not kidding. A vocaloid program that Souma knows about from his life on Earth somehow got evolved into its current form and gets put into that position leading refugees from the Northern continent. And they are the demons but are actually fellow experiment races like the rest. But there’s of course a language barrier.

How many wives does Souma have?
8, he is shared between the 8 wives equally across the 8 days of the week. And he has multiple children. 7 of his wives become queens, while the 8th stays a commoner. He has multiple children with them, mainly so his bloodline spreads in order to handle the future tech buuuuut

Does Souma die eventually?
No. He somehow found some way to extend his lifespan in the last volume but it’s never explained how exactly. Just a hand waved explanation, probably alluding to some random super science device that does it. No I’m not kidding. So partially him needing to spread his bloodline is kinda moot point if he’s still around.

Souma and Earth:
In the last volume, Souma finds some way to travel back to Earth, to possibly fix problems there. Never explained how or really why he wants to fix Earth in the end. No I’m not kidding, after he learned how Earth became shut ins and declined. He for some reason thought he needed to fix Earth somehow. Never explained how he’s able to travel there besides possibly finding a spacecraft that got left behind.

Does Souma finally retire from being King?
Yes. His son takes over while Souma becomes a researcher. Why? He was trying to look into any tech that got left behind. Which hand waved answers some of the above. And somehow leads to him traveling between Earth and this planet to fix Earth….no. I’m not kidding.

Also his son proposes and marries Carla. Remember Carla? Liscia’s best friend who became their slave and serves as a maid? Yeah…Souma’s son falls in love with Carla. And when he took over as king he kept proposing to her. Carla finally accepted. But here’s the thing, Carla helped raised all of Souma’s kids.

That almost feels like the author got tired of writing and gave up.

for that last part, at least it aint that bad compared to rudeus' half-sister from the maid lady seducing his son/her nephew lol(from mushoku tensei)

also, I still dont get why the 8th wife was only shown in the last volume, like, I dont remember them flirting or something from past volumes, just the girl having a crush on the big boi doll that Souma uses to do adventurer stuff

There were probably subtle hints I guess. But nothing substantial enough.
The reason was her adventurer party made a killing being one of the first adventurers in the Northern hemisphere and they basically have a lot saved up. And then her party decided to disband as two of them were planning to get married. This basically leads her to marrying Souma. And due to keeping her a secret wife despite it being known he has an 8th wife somewhere, with many speculating who it is. His big doll he uses basically is him being with her all the time helping with chores and such. He visits her once a week at his other home/her home. They also have a kid together.

The whole last volume was basically some blurbs about Souma to kinda end his whole story, while the rest was basically his son and other characters and their stuff. And iirc there’s like a random sentence near the end where Souma announces that his dark elf wife is finally pregnant.

The most unbelievable part in this manga is how much time dragons spend time in their dragon forms even after one of them got into a MC's harem.
Good work.

I hope this isn't going to be a "it was earth all along" thing :/
it'snot earth but earth's futre humanity has had a hand on the planet, they were going to colonize the plant and were running experiments to see what type of modified human would be best there, they left overseers ofvthese experiments(mother dragon, this cube others that have stop functioning like the god of the god protect forest), for some reason humanity of earth lost intrest in things and became shut-ins

There are hints, her and his mascot doll (which he was possessing with his magic) have always gotten along and she was the only one to understand what he trying to say with his arm movements,

after the next arc she follows the mascotdoll into the castle grounds where the Black Cats start chase her and on Souma has them lead her to him, after that they have regular tea parties even his wifes join in, during the 3rd bridal class where wifes 6 and 7 where brought in she was included in Excel's notes

I wish I could burn this all from my eyes and no I do not mean because it was spoilers. That's a helpful bit of info...I wish only a fragment of it was true.
LAST LN SPOILER

The bits about Souma becoming long lived and traveling to Earth are only truish. They're presented as rumors, like "King Arthur will return to rule Britain again". The official story is that he died of old age.

Yeah it’s pretty much this. But considering how the lore surrounding the novel is and what the cast did over the course of the novels, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true.

So basically Souma's son marries his hot aunt
