so yes the decision of several characters are a bit dumb, but thats not completely their fault. (and neither is it eva's because she didn't know that the sword she got lent was refilling her mana)

Don't you have to look into her eyes to be affected. Only Louis was shown to have directly looked into her eyes.

The thing is, Eva forbid people to look into her eyes, which is how her evil eyes influence people and the only one looked at Eva's eyes was Louis. But the King looks somewhat influenced too (I mean look at his behavior this entire chapter), so is it possibly because it has something to do with her mana getting suppressed that caused this? Or maybe the King is always like this? Because he look so damn hellbent on breaking the contract.

Huh so if it's the exact person fit for the orb to receive it, they'll die? I thought as long as the person fit for the orb it's fine. But then again, yeah fair point but I was mainly curious about whether Eva's evil eye can charm people without looking directly . I humbly apologize if I sound like someone who'd gladly sacrifice my own son to seal a demon who's a threat to the humanity 🙏

Also thinking again maybe it was like this afterall:

Louis getting cocky
Desperate king was like: "Well that's convenient. Let's use him as sacrifice. It's not my fault if he dies since he's consenting"
Conflict ensues

it was mentioned that her eyes were of the highest power grade if I remember correctly. so its likely that she affected several people even if they only glanced over her. the rat man who stands directly besides the king seems to be not affected, but he was likely concentrated on the ritual itself, while the king glanced over the group while speaking.

but I assume we get more information in the next (two) chapter(s).
