No I think the author is just setting up pointless drama later. Main girl would definitely be shocked to find out the condition but I highly doubt you would get arrested for it. It's not illegal to have sex. She might even be willing to help you. But pansy ass won't even try to confide in her and instead will get caught in the act later for fake manufactured drama.
