I liked this at the start, but lately it feels like it's just filled with a ton of frivolous dialog which is neither interesting nor meaningful. Just look at the scene with changing shifts- there are so many words for nothing. By the way I checked out the light novel and the same problem exists at an even worse level.

Yeah, I tried to read the LN before, but there was way too many unecessary dialogues just for no reason or to feel like the characters were having any kind of intellectual discussion, which wasn't fun to read. Ended up dropping it...

both of these characters kinda feel like chatgpt instances told to act human
The opening conversation sounds like either that, or that it's from one of those language learning books where they have awkward conversations as examples to teach you certain words.

A: It's not too hot for you right now, is it?
B: It's a bit cloudy today, so it's fine
A: Did you manage to get any more sleep?
B: Yes I slept for another two hours. The warm milk really helped I think.
A: That's good to hear
B: Yeah

As yes perfectly normal conversation between two siblings/classmates/coworkers.
Maybe the point is that they're supposed to be awkward around each other since they're figuring out their feelings. But a good author should be able to convey that without making it boring to readers. And still that doesn't excuse the abomination that was that huge conversation about changing shifts at work.
