There’s so many ethical failures happening in this chapter.

Not sure if you’re in love? Go date a bunch of guys you’re not interested in… what? She was basically just told to sabotage the relationship.
She said date? She said "meet new people", the date part is only if something more happens.
What the heck, from some comments it seems like the professor said that she has to whore herself, jesus

That professor was really annoying. She was confidently making assumptions about Saki when she could have just asked her situation directly. Terrible way to give advice.
All of that just to try and push the narrative that assoc prof smart so she is a reliable figure lol, then again that is a reasonable conclusion for a young student to misconceive

I mean, some comments clearly are exaggerated (on purpose or not) but she did pretty much tell her "keep distance from brother and seek out as many other men as possible to filter out some interesting ones and see if you might fall for them, too, since you might be kinda easy" (the last part in a nice way).

True, it was masked with fancy words and some sound arguements which clearly also were meant well but it does essentially boil down to "seek out men" "get to know yourself". To a high schooler. That she just met.

Her being some op god that knows everything is a bit weak, tbh. I would've liked this conversation (with some changes to make it less morally questionable) in a more organic setting and some actual writing to lead into it.
This was, as it stands, the worst, weakest and cheapest way out possible for the author to deal with it. Meh.

She just said she didn’t have to get a lover, meaning a committed partner. Saying to “meet new people“ to a cute high school girl clearly means dating different guys. How else would you normally decide if you have romantic feelings for someone? Of course you’d be going on dates or going to mixers, what else would she do?

Remember this is the know-it-all professor who‘s first words to her were to ask how many guys she’s banged. They have no sensitivity, and don’t seem to care about potential consequences either.

Yes, push an attractive but emotionally stunted/confused girl to proactively seek male attention “just to see what happens“… that’s a recipe for awful outcomes. Remember, this is the same girl who seriously considered selling herself already.

Clearly this professor doesn’t have a counselling or psychology degree.

This is tough, because she's right that if you only have one male figure that's close to you you can't tell if its love or not. But on the other hand, her meeting with a bunch of guys would "normally" put off the MC and cause him to look for a separate relationship as well, potentially sabotaging the relationship with MC.

No? Meeting new people is meeting new people. It doesn't have to be dating or romantic.

The fuck is wrong with people's brain man... The prof just meant to interact with other men and not just her step brother.

No, she seriously just means to interact. It doesn't have any romantic or intimate meaning like you're suggesting and thinking it means.

Since she hasn't interacted with other men all that much, she recommends interacting with others to confirm what she feels about MC and if it's at all different when interacting with them. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
