if "you" fell, let go of the reins

but in this case, its the other way around, its other party who "fell" and need help

theres no way you can just let go of reins that easy knowing they will fall further

This is more impactful when you know or have lived in Japanese culture. 'It can't be helped' is a phrase people say all the time. They just brush stuff away and don't confront it properly.

That last sentence sounded cool but this was not the situation you can solve by just being emotional. He needed his calm the most. "It can't be helped. That's just how the way it is." might sound defeatist, so it's understandable that Hachiken hated it. But he should've realized that Komaba didn't go down without a fight. He put his utmost effort to change his situation. It's just that the result of his struggle didn't go in his way. So, all that he could do was to acknowledge it and move on. It couldn't be helped, really...

Not a very good look on Hachiken's part here. It sounds inspiring and all, but all he's really doing is virtue signaling about the follies of giving up, nothing he's said has had any practical application to Komaba's situation. He's basically just saying "don't give up" without knowing any of the particulars or if there is even any viable alternatives. Just comes off as very childish. But if he has a solution up his sleeve, then it's completely different.
