If you click on left side of the page, you'll go back. That's the only reason I could imagine to cause your problem🤷🏻‍♂️

If you only care about going forward by clicking go to Reader settings - > Input settings:
Set "Turn page by tapping/clicking" to "Always Turn Forward"
Click Display advanced settings at the top and make sure "Turn page by vertical scrolling" is "Disabled".
Also if you are using a smartphone I find that the swiping to change pages more often triggers when I don't want it than when I do. So I have "Touchscreen swipe sensitivity" set to "Off".

He isn't a shit father. He just makes really poor choices.
He followed her because he was worried about where she was going and what she was doing.
He knew she would never leave MC's group willingly so he got the scientists and police(?) involved to get her out.
He realized he'll probably doom his daughter to a life of mediocrity or worse. So he flatly refuses the reward money for a chance to give his daughter the life she wants. Which would be, objectively, worth more than the reward money.
If there was any greed from the father it was secondary to the well-being of his child.

It is easy to judge a character when you are able to see the big picture, sort of speak. You've read all the previous chapters. You read what that secretary lady said to the fat guy and can draw conclusions from there. The father has a very narrow view of the events happening because that is all he sees.
