How so? It's pretty light hearted, unless you're not a fan of slow paced stuff.

@Klice Light hearted. OK . . . but it would probably have been more light hearted if they didn't die at the end. Or if almost all the rest of the world wasn't dead, or if there was some faint sign of anything recovering or regrowing rather than just snatching a few moments before fading away. Maybe we have different ideas about what constitutes "light hearted".

@Purplelibraryguy Their overall situation is desperate and the world is dying, but the tone of the anime, their adventure and stuff, it's all pretty light-hearted; with the exception of the moment where the kettenkrad dies out.

That's kind of the message of the show/manga I extracted, embrace the despair to live happily despite it. It's the whole character of Yuu, "Zetsubou, zetsubou" or "how can you live if you're afraid to die". All their adventures, interactions and stuff were pretty cute, and most of the times hopeful in a certain way; more than light-hearted.

I never felt hollow like I was in front of The Road, never felt any real despair. I was a bit sad, but they looked fine (except at the end) most of the times. So indeed, their situation, the world's situation, it's all hopeless and bleak, but the tone of the story didn't felt that way for me. And it's certainly not the tone of the anthology chapters.

I would argue that they had their stomach filled and were warm at the end of the official chapter and that, possibly, the bonus chapter takes place way later than the main story; so it's natural they died at some point, we all do.

I have to agree with the too much faction. The story is good but it's also as depressing as the original 'On the Beach'.

I'm glad they
showed the plane lady having fun. I think she found the bath Yuuri and Chito left behind. And she found enough potatoes to create moonshine 😀while the girls didn't find a single one through out this anthology series 😭 I also wished they showed a bit of the map maker. But still great!

Since I don't expect these volumes ever to get licensed translations, I bought Japanese copies to get right with Baby Jesus. But I'm not able to read much Japanese, so I wish that the remainder of volume 2 would be scanlated.
