If I was a betting man, I'd bet that Seiji's grandmother might have tipped her off considering we know she likely knows about Megumi's mom since she had Megumi's past investigated, and is against Seiji marrying Megumi so is likely to try to drive a wedge between them any way she can since Seiji is refusing the marriage to Marika because of her.

I very wish this series, at the end, let these women to find their own self-worthiness is something just beyond finding love (even though I am here for the Seiji and Megumi relationship sailing off w/o baggage from their families), because Marika, to me, sounds like a very sad person - maybe not in the same vein as Komomo and all her insecurities of not having worth past 25 years old, the "I am lost", "I don't have anything else beyond Seiji", girl, you have a career in freaking England, what do you mean you don't have ANYTHING ELSE beyond a crush from childhood...?

(Also, I'm pretty sure, Haruka might, MIGHT have a crush on Marika... but since she is so stubbornly set on his best friend, it's like... something something about flocking together)
