Giving the Read Markers more purpose

The Read Markers are already great as it lets the reader know where they left off. However at some point I've come to realize that it becomes increasingly difficult to keep an overview on what chapters have gotten a new chapter released. Even with the Updates Tab, it is common to miss a chapter.

To be concise with what I want to suggest: Add an option to hide chapters from the Updates Tab that have been Marked as Read.

As an example to why, about little over a week ago my Update feed got cluttered with over 20 pages worth of scanlations from Asura scans and Reaper Scans. I'm not saying this to complain. Infact I actually appreciate it as it lets me have more stuff to read, but because there is so much in the Updates Tab, that I've (probably) missed many chapter updates that I've overlooked.
Of course there is also the Option to turn off Updates recieved from the specified manga. The problem with that however is that it is unnecessarily Time-consuming to manually enable/disable that, aswell as being a problem when done with an unfinished manga where there is no way to turn the Updates back on unless you deliberately go through your library (which unfortunately does not have any sorting options).

I believe that adding this would make it much easier for the reader to navigate through the Updates Tab.

If you read mainly on PC, I think there are scripts that hide chapters marked read.

While I do read on PC, I mostly read on my phone as scrolling with the mousewheel through long strips is too irritating.
Even then I don't like the idea that just because there is a script of it somewhere that this suggestion should be neglected. Not everyone reads on PC, and not everyone that reads on PC uses scripts, let alone be aware of them.

I'm not suggesting this solely for my own convenience, but rather believing that this is something everyone would appreciate to have.

Bump? I hope it is alright as there has been no response so far.
Sorry for the inconvenience if it isn't

You can bump as many times as you want don't worry.

Right now Mangadex's developers are working on features to implement, so maybe your suggestion will be heard and be implemented.

Happy 1st anniversary bump. Wow time flies.

I would love to hear any kind of stance in regards to this suggestion whether it is planned or not, or even possible.

Possible, probably.
Planned, no. (At least I haven't seen this on any feature list)

Filter unread

Just suggesting a filter option under library and updates to show only unread chapters in case I skipped some titles but can't remember what I skipped over.

I would love this, similar to Gmail filtering unread emails or manganelo that lets you see in notification all the newest chapters that came out for the mangas you follow and filters which chapters you haven't read.

Gonna bump this thread, as I've been thinking about suggesting this same thing for a while.

I follow a lot of manga, so my updates feed tends to be pretty full. I also sometimes go for a while without reading manga either because I don't have the time, get distracted, or wind up reading fanfiction instead. As a result, I tend to fall pretty far behind on keeping up with my updated feed. Since that gets overwhelming, a lot of times when I go into the feed I'll just cherry pick manga to read instead of trying to keep going through from the oldest unread stuff to the newest. This ends up leaving a lot of unreads buried in older pages of the pagination alongside ones marked read (which, checking for when the read markers start showing up is usually how I would keep track of how far back in the pagination I need to go).
The end result is that there's a lot of manga updates that I saved for later that I just won't know about at this point, especially if those manga have reached their final chapters.

Having a "hide read chapters" filter for that feed would let me go back to the very last page of pagination and start from there, confident that I'll only be seeing things I haven't read yet, which would be a huge boon. Depending on how the feature is implemented, it might also allow users to see further back in their updates feed than the current limits allow (if the filter somehow makes it so those chapters marked read aren't included in the pagination calculations).

Honestly, this is probably the feature I'd most want to have implemented, as it'd make my life significantly easier.

Also, @Cridove, you may want to change the title of this post (if that's possible) to something more in-line with the actual feature request, like "Add ability to filter chapters marked as "read" out of the updates feed". That way, it's easier for people (especially the admins/devs) to see at a glance what the suggestion is.

In the updates tab which displays the each latest chapter added, it becomes a bit disorienting to see the same manga/manhwas repeatedly when turning a page in the updates tab. So I suggest maybe an option to just see Title, New chap, and current chap

If I can reference a site, Manganato(.)com's bookmark displays

Title
Latest chapter (new chap)
Current chapter (where youre at)

If the title gets updated again the next day it won't make a copy of the title and display a new chapter, it just goes to the top of the list:

1. Boku no
2. Naruto

->

1. Naruto (most recently updated)
2. Boku no

Reasons for wanting change/feature:

If I saw that MHA's latest chapter is 204(for example) and I was at chap 200, it is useless information to turn a page in the updates and see that yesterday they added chap 203, cause im not gonna skip a chapter.

It would also be more efficient, if I wanted to browse my updates, the site wouldn't need to load each time and day a title had a new chapter.

Also imagine I had a manga that updates monthly or finished a long time ago, I miss it and it will be buried under my weekly manhwa updates, you might say I could just search the title, but I cant remember every manga im reading specially titles in japanese.
