I've got strong "cheap Solo Leveling knockoff" here.
- Character starts weak.
- Character has to grow before becoming an OP necromancer type.
- Character is a "monarch" type being.
However, the comparison stops here. In comparison, this forgettable MC...
- ... starts at level 1, with a seemingly weak minion... but he hides that he actually can summon multiple minions and they already are stronger than their evaluation let out. Not OP, but definitely stronger than a base human.
- ... only has to easily stroll to level 6 to become a near unkillable minion master. No challenge, no long road to OP status, no character building. And the level 6 is such an easy bar to reach, it seems like it's only here just to make MC look weak at level 1.
It's a weak premise that only superficially mimics SL. And this shallow template is shared with many similar clones.
Because all they remember from SL is "OP shadow monarch stomps on every opponent".
In their weak knockoffs, there is no need to earn power through challenge, effort and self discovery. Instead, their MCs start with it, or get it in a couple of chapters. This is not great storytelling, it's cheap power-fantasy. It can work, kind of, for a while. But it doesn't feel the same.
This is just barely average.
