I say if you want to go classy, a little bit "extra", then truffles are the way to go. They're delicious and have a classy feel, but as long as you have a double boiler they're really easy to make. Ingredients are basically only:
--Good chocolate
--Cream
--Butter
--Booze (I recommend Grand Marnier, Rum, or brandy but there are plenty of good options)
And you pretty much just melt the chocolate and stir in the other stuff. If you use a double boiler you basically can't burn it. Chill, roll into balls, roll in cocoa powder, done. Much easier than baking a cake.
