Komainu are not specifically Korean. That translation note made no sense.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'm the translator and I didn't put that TL, actually, what I put was "lion-dogs guardians at Shinto shrines", which is literally the dictionary definition. Neither my TL nor the PR have anything about it being korean, so I guess it was the TS who did it(? No idea why though, will correct it
