"Lady Golden" is cute, sexy (nice job on the outfit, Blues!), capable, and only a temporary stand-in while we follow the MC and his adventures. Most important, Cinammon is already a good original character who accepts the role to support the hero who is still the protagonist, not to replace him entirely and act like she's always been better. I don't need a whole manga about Lady Golden, but I certainly don't mind seeing more of Cinammon cosplaying as her.
For the entire Western comic book industry, here's how you don't piss off your loyal fanbase and subsequently how you avoid dying your deserved death. It's very complicated so listen closely:
- Don't arbitrarily replace beloved existing characters for stupid ideological or political reasons.
- Don't have said replacement absolutely trash the previous incarnation and smear them into the dirt.
- Don't blame and lecture your customers for not automatically praising your steaming turd sandwiches.
Write good stories with existing characters. Write good original characters instead of replacing and mutilating existing ones. Make interesting illustrations, get creative with the paneling and storyboarding. It's okay to try and fail, happens all the time. But know why you fail and learn the correct lessons. "Consumer not woke enough, woke harder" is not the correct fucking lesson.
