I've read all 9 chapters and it's not bad.

That said, the manga is above average for manga that are considered useless but were the most powerful.

As Gonron Egg is almost certainly getting axed in a few weeks (likely by chapter 17), let's take this work as a model of what NOT to do for a weekly shonen battle manga:

• Do not fill the first half dozen chapters with villains of the week
• Do not wait 10 chapters to introduce the supporting cast
• Do not immediately up the power scaling after each fight instead of expanding on technique and nuance
• Do not fall into the terrible writing cliche of assigning a number to power level, Drakarch hearts in this case
• Do not make your main characters to be flawless saints, without a bone of selfishness or doubt in their bodies

This list could go on for a dozen more points but I think you understand what I mean. This manga is boring, but not because it has bad ideas. It simply has no ideas or ways to expand on them. All in all, there is nothing here. A bad manga with bad ideas would be more entertaining if only for the fact that it would surprise you with the depths it sinks to. Gonron Egg just treads water, not making a single splash or wave in the process.

yeah..way too fast what’s going on chapter 16-17 should be having around 70-100 chapters in, we know little about the MC or his personality, or this random liberation army that just suddenly exists. No origin on what or where the Drakarch came from. No character development. I do like the ideas but it needed another writer to make them flourish.

I also could be wrong but didn’t earlier the manga mentioned when you eat a Drakarch heart you inherit its abilities? Yet it’s never shown? Just hack and slash more. Like it could’ve been so great for battles or even a side effect/negative to eating Drakarch hearts, something.

So, the manga continued until chapter 21 instead of 17 like I had predicted. That's honestly more confusing since we had several chapters of meaningless fights in between the time skip (why the hell was this a thing?) and the final chapter.

However, by far the most wild "plot twist" this series dropped in the final few pages was the current king being pro-human. How? How do you reconcile the king of sadistic evil demonic monsters who enslave and eat humans as actually protecting them? Sure, you could make the argument that the king was against the "tyranny" or "selfishness" that pre-apocalypse human civilizations embodied. Except we don't get that.

This series is filled with wholesale slaughter of innocent people and ends with the tyrannical, genocidal dictator pointing to some free-range orphans and going "trust me bro, we're the good guys". Even if the author had gotten a full series I don't think this would have played out the way they envisioned it going.
