Let's see if anybody else had their eyes on this.

Either way, hope it's okay - there's a couple of lines I struggled with a bit, but it seemed mostly on target. I would have liked to get it that little bit more polished, but god damn, I was getting very tired by the last few pages (some of those redraws ended up horribly ugly under the text). Apologies for the few untranslated SFX.

The concept seems pretty interesting, and the MC pretty fleshed out too. Let's see where it goes.

This is a super intriguing concept. This guy is fascinating, too; we get hints that he gave up on things he wanted to do, that he was driven to support his family, and then just... couldn't. But he has a self-awareness that's usually missing from these types. He tells the goddess that he wants to be praised, but he knows he didn't do anything to deserve it. This is a hateful depressive cycle. The dream goddess or whatever feels like an interesting character as well, giving a real strong thesis statement about the purpose of sleep and dreams in the first chapter.

I'm really interested in this one.

This panel combined with the mc saying he wants to be praised + the light and night analogy
reminded me of this one quote from Nietzsche:

FWIW, to clarify, for everything I've uploaded I use Lens (mostly) line by line and I edit it as I go, I don't run the whole thing through AI or whatever.

I couldn't do anything without MTL but I can read kana, just about, I know a handful of kanji and I have a little bit of "anime Japanese", so I'm not completely clueless. I go over some lines multiple times (sometimes Lens gets a way better translation if you keep at it), I look up words or phrases or individual kanji if I'm not sure about stuff, and I'll hand-write things into Lens if the scan can't read it.

And I'm a creative writing grad, so I at least know how to maek wurds in English sound gud. (Though I've read enough proper translators talking about what they do that I try very hard to never make stuff up outright. I do have a couple of internet friends who know Japanese who I can ask for help if I'm completely stumped.)

There's definitely a couple of minor mistakes I let slip through because I was tired - e.g. I wasn't at all sure if that "Shinya told himself" was supposed to be third-person or just another instance of how Japanese uses names where English wouldn't. Or when Mahiru sends her first message I only realised after I'd started doing the transforms/redraws that she actually says "I passed!" as part of the preview, not once Shinya opens the message, but I left it as is since it still more or less makes sense.

(Or I read his name as "Morohoshi" partly because I couldn't see the furigana too clearly and Wiktionary didn't seem to have "boshi" as a reading.)

Might be TMI, but just if anyone was wondering. 🤷‍♂️ I just put that disclaimer in all the time since I don't want to pretend I can properly speak or read Japanese without help, when I (currently, at least) absolutely can't.
