I feel dumb for asking, but what did she mean by "vacation" and why was it so dramatic?

Did they fire her? Send her away? 😔

So is Hanako going back to Japan because she feels guilty for lying to Alice or something? I don't believe that's how the character thinks at all. This is very strange, but maybe she wants to go and ask Eliza to write Alice a letter that she can give her.

“Alice is an avid reader almost as much as you or I.” These characters would be speaking and writing proper English. Note that, less elliptically expressed, the sentence would be “Alice is an avid reader almost as much as you are or I am.” The accusative “me” does not work.

"Begone, peasant! No longer will you poison our daughter with your gay!"
It's a bit sad the "dramatic" unveiling and background story of the mysterious sensei is drowned out by classic, dumb, homophobic parents. Like, I don't even care who you are... But it was funny when they fired her. Definitely wasn't supposed to be, though. But I laughed for some reason. Just the last pages where they're like, she's on *dun dun* "vacation". And they pan to her standing on a fuckin' beach with a suitcase. Fuckin' cracked me up.

Most native speakers would not have got that right, but nearly all literary people would have a hundred years ago, and many would now. This creates an interesting problem for the translator, as what to do depends upon the character.

Here's an illustration of where case makes a difference in meaning: [ul]He doesn't go to church as much as she [does].
He doesn't go to church as much as [he goes to] her.[/ul]

TvT I feel that the drama is coming. Where have they sent her, backing to Japan? And at some last pages we see that Hanako standing on the beach with the suitcase after they say that sending her for "vacation". TvT, I'm so worried about the relationship between Hanako and Alice, I hope they will see to each other again and tell all that they want to say to each other. I look forward to seeing the next chap.
And thank you so much for the translation @Sha-tan as always. Thanks so much ^^

Mhm, interesting. Thank you. There is always time to learn something new.

Thank you! This time it took me a bit more time to translate. I had some losses in the family because of the virus. Anyway, I'll start translating ch 10 as soon as possible, but unfortunately it will be the last for a while. With ch 10 we'll catch up with the Spanish translation, then we'll have to wait for them to translate more. Unless someone who knows Japanese will join our team, in that case we could translate directly from the original.

Oh I didn't know that, I'm really sorry about that. My Eng is not good enough to let me express all I want to say, but I really hope and wish you and your family all the happiest and the best. And sorry that I can't help you about translating because I don't know about Japanese or Spanish, but really thank you for all that translation you and your team updating. Thank you again, take care, keep safe and wish you and your family all the best 🙂
