God i hate teachers who make a big prob abt not doing hw or not appearing in a test. I skipped a maths test once, and my teacher was telling me that even if sm student's mother passes away or it's their mother's death anniversary they would still come to school. I just stared at that woman, like girl this is the FOURTH GRADE 💀 and ur crying abt a normal class test

Without going heavily into spoiler territory, I think the whole point of the teachers acting bizarre is that it's from the perspective of a highly imaginative child. Punpun's shifting worldview results in a lot of surreal imagery of the people around him, depending on what's happening to him in the story.
