i keep rereading this chapter for more hints.
Korea doesn't get independence until 1940s, right? and this story takes place in 1920s, so when Eui-hyun says he can do nothing for Soo-ah, is it because he gives up on revolution?
Soo-ah is looking at him, and he's talking to a woman in a kimono. does he give up and marry some Japanese person?
i guess it could be figurative too... but i have a feeling it's something like that, right?
and is there any coincidence to Hae-soo's name translating to seawater? Soo-ah says she needs water to breathe, so does he become her water to breathe in?
this is all just fun speculation. i feel like this story will break my heart over and over again.
