This looks like it's heading very similarly to the ending of "Silent War/My kingdom", where they meet up at the end but he casually rejects her while staying with the other girl(s).

It all feels sword weird and I hope there was a plan but its not looking that promising. If the manga drags for another volume than maybe its a longer resolution but given Shinobu's response it also feels like the significance is now gone.
