GraPara! - Vol. 14 Ch. 136 - Grapara!

Before 136 came out, changing 129 into 129.5 alone could be enough and everything that followed would've been played off as a "lie" by fucboi just barely, although Sakura's actions in the aftermath chapters would still be nonsensical.

The problem with 136 is the major time skip of 5 years which was meant to showcase the progression of the MC's (mostly Shinobu's) careers but the writing threw everything off with fucboi disappearing after 135, and only Fumi Shinobu and Sakura having any important roles.

Also the moment where Sakura finally learns the "partial truth" after 5~6 years at this point (she doesn't learn that Shinobu knows the full truth, only that he was looking for her the whole night) was so bare minimum it's hard to feel any "reward" for reading GraPara! to the end.

Best wishes to Airi-sensei, I can sort of see the "depth" of the story she was going for in her twisted vision but the execution and landing does not stick and the axe did not help.

That's why many Japanese people said that Grapara is the worst manga they've ever read or the worst in the century, etc.

Everyone agrees that its only redeeming quality is the beautiful artwork by Keishi Nishikida sensei and they encourage him to work with someone other than Airi Katsura (sensei). LOL

Hard to say, while their lack of communication throughout the whole arc was unreal, they do have an understanding of one another in some ways, so she could more readily believe that Shinobu thinks she was just at a manga cafe the entire night again...COMEDY!

Having Fumi be the one to drop the mini truth bomb feels like a bit of a cop out but it also worked, because while it would hit way harder if Sakura learns that fucboi told Shinobu about everything, something like this needs way more chapters which we were no longer afforded.

Cucboy's not a manga's character anymore. He was just an ugly fat middle-aged man who had been reincarnated into the body of a handsome young man. Isekai? LOL

(Even though the cucboy lacks the menacing look in manga, he is still a villain who maintains a handsome facade for going out to buy drinking water, condoms and tissues intent on having sex that very night. LOL)

I wonder is it an unwritten rule for fan-made versions that the FMC's bust must be bigger than the original? LOL

I’m not really a fan of resizing the bust or the boobs. LOL Because many characters already have large ones and making them ridiculously huge just looks weird (for me). LOL

Mecrub’s version of Sakura looks like she got a plastic surgery just to compete with Fumi. LOL

IMHO, more people will be interested in the work if Mecrub did an extended scene of Fumi x Shinobu in chapter 132-133 instead of Sakura x cucboy in chapter 129 as many people hate Sukura and cucboy.

Also the original Fumi x Shinobu scene was too short that it left many people complaint such as @box2024 , right? LOL

Anyway, a friend of mine just mentioned that while comments on MagaPoke was deleted, many Japanese still wrote their comments elsewhere such as at https://webcomics.jp/comment/155486 where the comment count has skyrocketed since chapter 129 like here. LOL

So, foreigners like us focused too much on X and MagaPoke and overlooked just how angry and resentful many Japanese readers are toward Airi Katsura (sensei) on other platforms.

Some Japaneses have accused her of being a psychopath who intentionally targeted on harming rom-com readers. Some have even cursed her to die.

Many Japanese readers find it unacceptable for a manga to contain the doujinshi content. Many even criticize this is the selling doujinshi as manga, viewing it as a form of cheating.

This is terrifying because the people who leave numerous comments likely won't actually harm her, as they have already vented their rage online. But the person who would harm her probably never write a single comment as they would like to unleash their fury on her in person, not over the Internet.

For example, a worker at her regular ramen shop could be harboring a grudge and looking for a chance to harm her. Japanese attackers prefer stabbing or arson.

I'm worried Airi Katsura (sensei) may have to avoid being outside till next year (until angers blow over) or she'd stay in a remote province. Because she never knows if people around her may be among those enraged by chapter 129.

The revision of chapter 129 in volume 14 might be very significant for more than just boosting sales because it could also be crucial for AK (sensei)'s safety.

Hopefully, Kodansha will revise the chapter 129 in the volume 14 to put an end to the various issues surrounding it.

P.S. Japanese readers said the same thing that the only reason they read Grapara is Keishi Nishikida sensei's beautiful artworks because the storyline was absolutely terrible for a long time and became worst in the end.

I think I only agree with the fuckboi part, the fuckboi looks diabolical, but Sakura, I would say she looks good, and by the way, I thought you would agree on how Mecrub adapted the fuckboi 🤔

In it, the female protagonist is abused in every way imaginable, but there's no penetration; she only has sex with the male protagonist. I honestly thought that in "Grapara," Sakura would be the same—she'd receive oral sex, she'd perform oral sex, and other things, but never sex. The plot worked well for 100 chapters; the NTR happened with the secondary characters, the NTR was bait, and the romantic comedy revolved around Shinobu and Sakura. But it all went down the drain with the introduction of the fuckboy. I honestly thought that chapter 129 would be the biggest bait in manga history, which is why I felt so much frustration, anger, and helplessness when I saw Sakura, the female protagonist of a romantic comedy, having sex with a guy who wasn't the male protagonist!

Literally this. Whatever they wanted to do with Sakura I would have been fine with when it comes to sexual acts AS LONG AS there was no intercourse. She could suck dicks, be licked, etc. Just no penetration! That's what I was expecting but no. It went all the way.

It may have been okay if there was more buildup and an actual connection between Sakura and fuckboi but no one was rooting for the guy. How can you when we've spent all these chapters with Shinobu? It was pointless and used simply to boost up rankings. It had no reason to happen plot wise when Sakura and Shinobu literally explained misunderstandings to each other before.

Not quite sure how I feel about the Ryusei x Chico ship in the end, but at least Ryusei looks to be done fucking around by 135 ig and if Chico is happy, maybe that's good enough.

The only solution they have to save it a little bit is make the bonus chapter something that the fans want,like Shikura reconciliation(i saw many comments about that) and Sakura's internal toughts about finding out she cheated and she misunderstood everything.

That's what I most want to see, Sakura's damn inner thoughts! How did she feel the morning after that fuckboy filled her with cum all night? What went through her head during those months? Was it just a one-night stand or did she become his girlfriend? And if so, what were her thoughts when she made that decision? What happened to Sakura and her thoughts during the time skip of several years? And why was she wearing the necklace Shinobu gave her? Her damn inner thoughts when she learned the truth from Fumi, when she realized she misinterpreted everything during those years and was a cowardly cheater. So many things that Katsura's lazy, sloppy writing leaves to our interpretation and imagination, it makes me so angry.

I guess it fits, what's missing is the lack of a "normal" interaction between Shinobu and Sakura. It's safe to say they've likely met off screen prior to showing up on set but given the huge time skip, off screening their reunion is a choice....unless they really haven't met before Sakura showed up on the day of the shoot there at the end, I don't know how these things go but I imagine Sakura and her current manager would've met with Shinobu and his team at some point before.
