Assuming the author was basing this off of psychosomatic illnesses, they're not completely bullshit. A purely psychological element (stress) can mess up your body in very physical ways. Of course, not to the point of giving yourself burns or wounds, not to the point of physically affecting reality, but you can get rashes, ulcers, even impotence (😳) etc... https://www.britannica.com/science/psychosomatic-disorder
I've read that the increase of cancer rates in this century is due to the amount of stress we feel. And I've read at least one anecdotal case
on 4chan, so it may be made up BS, but I don't think it's entirely unreasonable
where one person said that he wanted to lose his virginity, so he hired a prostitute, but as much as she tried for a whole hour, she couldn't get it up.
Furthermore, you can delude yourself into thinking you have a certain physical ailment, such as being blind, and act accordingly, all at a purely psychological (although involuntary) level: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20160407-the-very-real-pain-of-imaginary-illnesses
There's mass hysterias too, which is pretty much a group hyping themselves into feeling ill, without actually getting ill: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_psychogenic_illness
The power of the mind over the body is a fascinating thing. 👀
If you had this kind of technique, why didn't you use it sooner?
What was the point of visiting all of those dojos before when you have the power of imagination?
What was the point of actually researching your opponents at the start of the manga?
