Kisato, everything is based off of Grimm's fairy tales.
Problem is, I don't think the original "little mermaid" is a Grimm's fairy tale.
Fact check, it is not. Was written by: Hans Christian Andersen in "Fairy Tales Told for Children. First Collection." in Danish in 1836.
Stories by the Brothers Grimm were published in "Children's and Household Tales (book 1 and 2)" in German, in 1812.
