Polaks made a 7.62x51 version of the PKM, but their objective was to feed from NATO-standard disintegrating links. For that reason, the feed system was different (and the barrel was shorter, receiver longer, and the gun became heavier). But the image of the feed system shows traditional Russian feed box, as well as Russian belt and, most importantly, cartridges. In addition, you're in your own world, and don't need to comply with external standards. Just feed 7.62x54 Russian like Kalashnikov intended, jeez. Finally, if you want sustained fire and 7.62 NATO ammunition, why not just use MG3 or FN MAG? The main advantage of PKM is that it's the lightest of them all, but switching to 7.62 NATO negates that advantage. This what happens when people are theoretical otaku in a subject.

Again, magic. For all we know 'body strengthening magic' also increases every bodily parameter, including data intake and processing. Point is, there are ways to make 'just pull trigger and win' nonviable. You're basing what is and isn't possible on real life. Which is something people do too often. Leaving aside that this is fiction and anything/everything that happens suits the story according to the writer's decision - it's representing a different world, in a different universe. We know nothing of their physics, and again - the fact magic exists to allow things that are impossible for our understanding to be possible.

I mean, what happens if you cast a spell literally called "Dodge Bullet", which has the effect of making you capable of easily dodging bullets? Do we say that's impossible, even though it's clearly what happened?

A Mk 19 automatic gernade launcher or an M2A2 .50 caliber machine gun would be better choices.

Hell, if you are worried about portability then go with the M134 chaingun.
