And his personality and background seem as bland, generic and boring as most of them.

In fact, this first chapter felt like something I've read hundreds of times before, but even more generic. Like a distillation of the true meaning of "generic".

I'm surprised by the positive comments. It's being compared to I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class, but that one was way more interesting from the start, with much more depth to the characters. It doesn't innovate with the events it uses for the story, but it's overall very well written.

This one, though? Let's just say I hope this first chapter is a bad indicator of what's to come...
