what even gives the girls their stars anyways? or do they just naturally form in response to the degree of magic they possess? and if that's the case, then clearly it's possible to fake star levels, dropping them down by suppressing one's power, which begs the question, is it in turn possible to "fake" your stars up by bursting through stored power faster than normal?
and do "good" magic girls have stars too then? more to the point, what differentiates the power received by "good" and "evil" magic girls aside from which faction originally woke their abilities?

@InsaneInsomniac tacos. the root of magic powers comes from cosmic tacos, which also decide their stars. Evil magic girls see tacos as sandwiches which is why they have stars, whereas good magic girls know how to differentiate tacos from sandwiches
