With how all over the place this manga is, who could even tell if a chapter was missing?
Samejima Jiken tells the story that she and the others were once villagers who, driven by starvation, ate a mermaid and were cursed as a result. Over time, they gradually lost their humanity and decided to shut themselves inside a temple waiting for their death. One day, a boy appeared and claimed that he might have known one of them back when they were human. This made the villagers desperate to be the person he was searching for, because being recognized would allow them to remain human
Later, the messenger returned and gave them the power to fight for that identity in the form of cassette tapes, likely records of the supernatural stories we now see them as
But Samejima never mentioned any poison that could break their curse of immortality, unlike what Shidou tells Ushimi sensei in chapter 35. All they wanted was for someone to remember them as human
So is the poison even real? Hachisakusama eats Ao’s finger and she’s still alive. Is his finger not poisonous enough to kill them?
The boy in this story is probably the same one who possessed Ao in chapter 26. But if that’s the case, why is his hair white?
If he’s the reincarnation of Shin, then that would make Ao the second reincarnation of Shin
I really hope we get more details later about the poison and how Ao ended up stealing it
