The Kaiitan are obsessed with Ao because of all their history with Shin. Hasumi only met him because of her job as an investigator, so to her he's just some random kid

Amazing recap! Seems spot on as well. Wanted to add something to the timeline though. Now I could be wrong, but (possible spoilers to the ending of Hachigatsu!), I think Tomomi gives a brief peek at what happens to Miyako and Hasumi (as well as an implication for Aoi) in a chapter of a spin off focusing on Hasumi‘s time as an investigator of Supernatural Tales before Hachigatsu takes place (Except for the chapter I’m talking about which seems to take place after the August 9th loop has been broken).
