What a fitting description of drill hair. (even if it's directed at those tigers)

Now watch drill hair to demand yet another battle.

Bro how many women is the MC going to get? Author is literally throwing women at him left, right and center. I just hope they are actually important to the plot and not just more eye candy….

I would argue at this point drill hair is actually needed, he has climbed the noble ladder so far through raw strength. But now he is under more eyes then ever and needs to build his relations with other nobles, The prior nobles have been the higher ups who have secured positions, but these new ones are the general ones, who are in lower and insecure positions, constantly trying to climb and scavenge. So he really needed a representative to help teach him noble curtesy and behavior as well as to assist in relations. The other are not bad at this, but at best wont humiliate themselves, they cant really build relations or help make deals as they won't see through the sneaky and deceitful merchants and nobles who want to take advantage. Yes he has several contacts and servants that are good with such things, but they are just that, servants, there is a lot of things they cant help with or represent but a wife can.

I agree. His retainers are third sons or daughters and below. His legal wife isn't a noble even though she's the grandaughter of the archibishop or cardinal, forgot his rank. His teachers are either retainers of nobility or hate the responsibility and politics of nobility and can't help him beyond the basics.

Even if Katharina is fallen nobility she has the background knowledge to move around in the upper echelons that an 8th son of a knight household wouldn't.

Yeah, having someone who is as politically savvy as Katharina in the group is absolutely invaluable. You can't just brute-force your way through everything.

In fact, I bet this whole contest is subterfuge. It would not surprise me in the least if Katharina was actually using this whole thing as a means to investigate Bell as a marriage prospect.

Although one could argue that if she really is that good at moving around in the political scene, then her confrontational behavior here doesn't make sense...

...unless you look at it as her trying to provoke a reaction out of Bell and his group in order to see how they comport themselves. In which case, apologies and explanations would be quick in coming in the aftermath of this contest.

Sudden thought:

It's possible that she's not after marriage. It's possible that, instead, she's only after a spot as a concubine.

Why?

Because if she was a concubine instead of a legal wife, then her children will bear her family name instead of Bell's. Which means that her children would be able to borrow a bit of their father's (Bell's) power and influence to rebuild their mother's (Katharina's) fallen house.

It'd be a brilliant stroke on her part. She could still be considered as being part of Bell's household this way - being a concubine doesn't mean that it's mandated that you be a pillow woman and nothing more. In Frank Herbert's Dune, Jessica, the mother of the main character, Paul Atreides, was actually a concubine and not Duke Leto's legal wife.

In other words, even as a concubine, Katharina can still play a pivotal role in Bell's house as their political "fixer", earning her own merits, and cashing in on those merits to rebuild her house through the children she has with Bell.

I doubt that an ill-mannered challenge of another noble and his retainers in the domain of the said noble to a match can be seen as a good example of 'noble courtesy and behavior' or being 'politically savvy'. Some less lenient and/or kind people could get offended by her behavior and as she has 0 support behind her back would make her disappear in this dangerous forest.

Instant-lobotomy-fist!
It's more terrifying than that. The medulla oblongata is the very top of the spinal column where the brain connects to the rest of the body. If it is destroyed, you lose connection to all bodily functions... including breathing and maintaining a heartbeat. You can't move or feel your body at all.

However the brain does not immediately die... it dies from loss of oxygen. I don't know if you feel no pain and simply wait to pass out (like when someone puts you in a sleeper hold)... but it might be better if the pain signals from the destruction render you unconscious immediately. That way you don't have time to panic

I'd believe it but the way she started the confrontation is kinda eh...

It'd make sense if she still carried her original rank but not in her current fallen status.

I don't know if I like Katharina yet, but I'm beginning to respect her.
When this string of competitions started I expected her to cheat in some way to make sure she wins and protects her pride, but even knowing everyone's strategies she always fought and lost fairly, which is honorable.

She's just too prideful for her own good. Once she learns to let go of that, she'll be a decent character.

I have a feeling the other adventurers didn't start to avoid her because she showed brutal strength in defending them all from beasts. That doesn't make much sense since adventurers in a world full of monsters would obviously respect strength. They must have shunned Katharina because of her attitude. She probably kept challening the other adventurers to matches, and never accepted a loss, insisting on repeating the match until the other side grew sick of it and gave up. After a few incidents her infamy would precede her, making others give her a wide berth. Anyone sane would start to dislike and disrespect such a person.

Sure sure, but did she need to be such a bitch to go with it?

Next up... a sob-story flashback chapter to make readers "accept" drill-hair bitch as a harem member.

Man. Its been so long since I've read the LN, I forgot this happened
before the fake war with that noble idiot. and the war where he was stuck in another country for months. gotta check to see if he goes to the demon country after his kids were born.

edit:actually it was the WN. for those interested, this all happens around chp 57.

The results this time are triple clear, double-damage from two parties as well, one of which she also severely underestimated

If she still stubbornly issues another challenge after this one I swear to fucking god

Isn't it more easier to just make the tiger drown with water ball or something instead those move?
