That would be true, except the old man revealed that his ability was very similar to MCs before he died. It wouldn't shock me if he still had some of that ability as a spirit since the ability was spirit related.

I suppose that's possible, but I do have some things I'd like to note still:

1. The old man also said his ability was weaker than the MCs while he was alive. This may or may not have been a lie, but based on what we know so far he wasn't capable of talking to or touching spirits. If that is true, his ability would have had to have gotten stronger since death rather than weaker in order for him to be able to do it.

2. If the old man does have the ability to possess bodies, it seems odd that he hasn't made use of it so far to take over some rich, powerful guy's body, rather than wait for this kid whose odds to survive, powerful ability or not, are slim to begin with.

3. Assuming the old man can take over bodies and has a good reason for waiting for MC, it seems reasonable to assume that MC would ALSO keep his ability as a spirit. Meaning even if the old man takes him over, MC should be capable of stealing his body back the moment the old man cums, which would be rather anti-climatic. Old man could just abstain I suppose, but that would kind of defeat the point of taking over MC's body.

Ultimately, all we can do right now is make wild speculations, but personally speaking, the theory just doesn't seem very likely going off what we know right now. I'd also find it pretty lame as a twist, but it's not like I'm expecting stellar writing from this anyways.

It's the second chapter and I already gonna drop the manga. The main character lacking motivation and was drag along by the spirits to move the story forward. 'Redo of Healer' has thing centered around sex, but at least it was his way to pay them for all the wrong that was done. This main character just, "Oh well, might as well accept my fate."

Especially since he told the first girl "your body is the only thing that matters to me" and left her with the impression that she would be stuck as a ghost forever. The power to replace anyone you dislike with someone who both loves and is loyal to you with no downsides (since they steal all their memories and abilities) is a very tempting power for a Hentai Protagonist.

Additionally, it looks like the author is writing some of the future capture targets to be so unapologetically evil that the readers don't feel too bad watching their bodies get stolen.

The next girl is basically a loan shark/sex trafficker. When people play a game, she can forcibly collect whatever was bet beforehand from the loser.

She rigs the games and causes her opponents to lose. From what we've seen so far, it looks like if they're unable to pay what was bet they basically turn into debt slaves who have to work it off by doing whatever she says until it's considered paid off. She uses this to extort the victim's families by threating to have their child gangbanged unless they pay up for them.

All the erotica stories made by this author tend to involve a MC who turns women who bully them into sex slaves and loyal harem members. At least right now, I don't have high hopes of them returning to their original bodies anytime soon unless they too (like in Confinement King and NTREVENGE) develop Stockholm Syndrome and fall in love with the MC.
