So the MC is probably the reason his sister acquired the instant death ability, a misfire of which probably caused the death of their (his?) father.
His death being the MCs fault suddenly makes alot more sense.

Why is his ability op? the main reason he's gotten this far is because he learned a pre-existing technique. And a piece of technology that he didn't even make.
Unless it evolves into something stronger I don't see how he could even A-class let alone s-class.

Why is his abilties is OP? Uh.. Because we still didn't know what his full capability is?? Like he just discovering that he can actually switch souls and using someone powers using Bangle.. It meant his abilities is more that what actually looking like..

Many of these abilities especially the male one is mostly faked because the society in this manga discriminate against men.. Of course their abilities are underdeveloped..

Many of these abilities IS OP when they use it correctly.. but somehow they label it as weak..

Well, this changes everything about ability class selection. It turns out the scientists there can manipulate the results, so perhaps some characters receive the same treatment as Hiroto.

This here! If they are hiding his results, other man might not be S-Tier but probably have dangerous skills, and that aligns with the speculation about the black listed people in the school, that fox femboy might have some latent OP skills too.


About the whole point of the ability being originated in the body or in the soul I feel like we didn't have a definitive answer, only some points of view, the fact that he can manifest a new power through the bangle using anyone's ghost/soul makes me think there's a lot more about the root of how abilites came to exist in this world. If Hiroto can manifest the powers without the bangle and without time limit, with seems like a predictable cliché of comics in general, that can easily be an S-Tier. This and other comments different observations just make it obvious on how many ways his power was never low tier and we always knew that.

Maybe the Instant Death ability his sister has IS the catalyst for truly activating his ability? The best way to activate Hacking Ghost is, funnily enough, to die first. It might also be the reason that she hasn't actually done it yet. It would make sense in the context of the story that his ability literally gives him control over death, unlike his sister's ability that only causes it.

Basically, his sister and her desire to kill him is the thing causing everyone to freak out the hardest, since she's effectively too powerful to control and could lead to him having limitless power over everyone else by killing him.

My guess? Since ghosts exist in the story, that likely means gods and demons do too.

Maybe he can outright summon world ending all powerful gods or demons if he learned how to do it.

I like this idea because it could be why the fox femboy is also blacklisted. The Kitsune is a well known yokai, even divine I think, so there might be some powers connected to powerful gods or at least their "concepts"

We knew he was more powerful than a pantry F, but an S "Calamity"? What the hell is Hiroto?

Right now the only power he himself has shown is seeing ghosts. Sex severing the bond of the soul and the body allowing possession was a discovery by the cult leader. The bracelet that gives different powers depending on the soul inside is from the shrine.

Seeing ghosts isn't really an S-rank ability, so it should be something else.

My guess on the "soul-severing" being not actually restricted to sex, but to be able to go further than that, like by touch or sight, sense or to multiple people. Imagine for a second a person who can not only InstaKill at will, but to do so to everyone in a range and then possess the corpses left with friendlier spirits for maximum manchurian. I think that's one of the reasons Hiroto might be granted the Calamity title.

The rest of Hiroto's granted abilities like possession of ghost abilities might just be his, just given a jumpstart earlier than intended.

His sister might hate him because a near death experience momentarily separated his soul from his body, and he caused a tragedy from the out of control power.

I'm started to think the sister might be "right" about her claim of Horoto killing her father... except he has just his soul accidentally separated and he's actually still around. But she doesn't know that.

The condition of the Deus Ex Machina power was that it will always lean towards what's interesting.

Im wondering if the reason he is designated that way, is the possibility he cannot die? At least in the traditional sense.

We know he can see, talk, and interact with ghosts. That alone confirms souls are very much a real thing, not a concept. So what if his body can die, but not his soul?

Therefore they believe he is a calamity because even if he were to die, he can freely use his powers even in a soul state (theoretically). His ability is also "hacking" so they assume (we already know and have seen) he can take over other people's bodies.

In conclusion, even if he dies, he isn't going anywhere but could come back in anyone else's body and can do it on repeat. Therefore he is unkillable and deserving of S-Class

But like the ACTIVATION of said ability to steal a body? That is pretty limiting, honestly. And he barely got off the whole "Deus Ex Machina" plot twist without dying.

I personally doubt that it's the only way to steal bodies. It's terribly convoluted, and it was discovered by accident by a former cult leader whose main goal in life was to get laid as much as possible. It's way too specific as well.

The story is slowly peeling back more facets and uses for his ability, like how now he can make use of ghosts to give himself powers.

The fact of the matter though, is that however they are testing him, it's clearly not by making him demonstrate his powers in some way, nobody can see the ghosts but him. So they have some way to quantify his abilities by measuring something. Whatever that method is, isn't really important. By this method he's measured as S class and we still don't quite understand that criteria. So jumping to conclusions now or arguing that other abilities should be graded higher based on our own personal grading is a bit premature.

I wonder how they measure abilities to assign it a rank
Unless someone else has an ability to learn the full power description of an ability (like an analyze skill) how would they determine that he can use his ability in a specific way to swap souls for instance.
At the very least you'd have to presume from this that the bangle isn't going to be required in the future otherwise it's hard to see at this point how it's above the level of his sister's abilities
In terms of ability ranks btw, I see people mentioning instant death, but I'd say Undo is above Instant Death in terms of power. One just kills, which a lot of abilities can do, just not as direct, but how many can bring someone back from the dead like Undo can? Depending on it's scale she could undo the effects of natural disasters like earthquakes or major events like some crazy power user blowing up a city block or something.
