I believe for old times manga reader, Okama is an accepted translation in fan translationWhat the hell is a Okama? Lets just romanize the text why bother translating at this point.
My guy I have read manga for like 15 years but never have I seen this JAPANESE word. Cant imagine it being hard to just say drag queen or crossdresser but I guess too many manga fans wants half translated works because "it adds additional context" when there are straight forward translations.I believe for old times manga reader, Okama is an accepted translation in fan translation
so I guess for younger audience, you can translate it as Drag Queen or Crossdresser
I mean, even Viz media tried so hard not to translate it to its actual meaning
(remember "Oh, Come My Way" in One Piece?)
I guess you haven't read a lot of queer manga then. But you're right this is for manga fans, I'm obviously not a professional translator, and this isn't an official English release, so stop being so bitchy about a translation you didn't even have to pay for.My guy I have read manga for like 15 years but never have I seen this JAPANESE word. It wouldn't be a "straightforward" translation-- it'd be a gloss. My guy I have read manga for like 15 years but never have I seen this JAPANESE word.
