I don't usually like the snobby, entitled characters in mangas (usually because the mangaka purposely makes them dislikeable and unrelatable). But Kageyama's character and story is fucking awesome. Punctuated character development from that moment when he set the ball, but none of his former teammates went for it, on purpose. He made the right friends, multiple rivals and an eternal one, and now he's free to pursue this obsessive culture of winning with likeminded teammates. It's very Kobe-esque, and how can you not be romantic about a character like that? Not a snob, but a player of the game. I dunno about the King analogy, but Kageyama's definitely a killer on the court.
