I usually like drama and conflict in stories but this was some bullshit

This is far too out of left field and with no context. I'm going to allow a small window for the author to cook because I'm assuming we're going somewhere, but at right this second it just feels like complete ass-pull bullshit.

The scenario of which it's occurring in doesn't...

Like how has it not been affecting him anywhere near this bad the whole time with being pulled into the band and everything?
If it has anything to do with Guitar playing, wouldn't he be a lot more reluctant to join up and play or bring the Guitar to school, et cetera?
It feels a little too out of left field and for it to spike to this degree suddenly feels a bit shoe-horned.
Might've made more sense if it started surging more and more over time the closer to the cultural festival date it got.
Or started with smaller spikes that built up to a response this bad that he just cuts the whole thing off?
And we kind of just don't get any of that kind of anxious feeling from Kurose during any of this.
