One thing this shows is that it's Shirota's choice to be her closet now. He's had many outs at this point...he didn't have to try and get into her school, he could've walked away when she fired him, he could've let Hina win the contest. He's still doing it because he wants to.

I do read this for the lewd art mostly, but despite the braindead character behavior with some of the characters, I do find some value in exploring the relationship growth and reading the author's take on established romcom tropes. But to be fully transparent, there is a sense of "I got past the painful start of this manga and now in the more tolerable and fun part" sunk cost fallacy I feel when I indulge my guilty pleasures.

Alright we all know Ecchi art is the main draw of this manga. I know it, you know it, the author and the primary fan base know it. But can we all also not drag down those who also might want to see a relationship in a ecchi alleged romance. Readers generally like some character developement and progress and this last arc was something. I'm sunk cost here for the ride, I doubt future Shirota's commentary means anything other than he's still hopelessly her closet.

I'd like to see more of the side characters in the story and not just mini one shot characters. I'd like Eri to be a cheerleader for Shirota or a ground for Takamine. Maybe some other boys vying for Takamine and upset with Shirota. Takamine having to pretend to want them or maybe the potential to fall for them. Adding permanent characters who can't find out Takamine-san's secret and creating scenarios for those side characters to potentially find out.

Talking down to people who engage with media differently from you because you think they're "wrong" is certainly a choice.

It's great that you can take a series unseriously, but I fail to see the value in badmouthing the way others choose to view it.

Methinks you're taking other peoples' criticism of elements of this story too seriously, if you feel the need to revisit each chapter with the same "holier-than-thou" attitude in the comments like this.

Just enjoy the manga for what it is. You don't have to be a jerk to others for their opinions.

I think part of my disappointment is that before those island chapters (nonsense), I saw an improvement in the work, but it seems like we're regressing... this arc with the new girl should be deleted haha

Takamine came prepared for their little challenge. She wanted this to happen, and probably rewound a few times to get the desired result.
