Even if Yami doesn't win, we discovered Golden Boy's weakness.

Fuck his flow up. All you have to do is break his stride.

@Kayriel

I mean, we really don't know that yet.

For all we know, Yami is still going to get wrecked and all we'll learn is that just messing with the flow a little bit is not enough. After all, I doubt he'll shed his image as a joke character that easily. Then they will report to Takamura that even small disruptions aren't enough, which is fine with Takamura because he doesn't do weak stuff like that. Because I seriously doubt there will be any question about how ridiculous Takamura's opponent's luck is before the match happens.

Not going lie. I kind of want to learn how to play now. The only versions of this game I got are a tile matching game and a poker version on some tiny ship in the game Sleeping Dogs.

@Jahangir

I got the basics of the game by watching Akagi, then just played on https://tenhou.net/3/ (you can jump straight to playing if you want)

I recommend you try this anime if you want to learn Mahjong, it's legit good at teaching you the ins and outs of Japanese riichi Mahjong while also being legit entertaining. It's how I learned how to play.

I've watched that anime multiple times and never understood anything about mahjong.
Then try pausing it and reading the tl notes etc, especially in the first 3 to 7 episodes.
It introduces all the terms in their appropriate situations, different things and what they mean / do like Ron, Tenpai, Riichi, Chi, Pon, Kan, etc etc, shows a list of the different winning hand types and explains pairs and sets etc while slowly introducing more obscure rules and so on. The only thing it doesn't do is fully explain which tiles are which.

Anything else you don't understand, simply refer to the handy help here:
https://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/mahjong/mahjong_e.html
It used to be a good flash game of Mahjong you could play against the computer, but sadly Flash is dead now.

I just rewatched the first 3 episodes myself, I know for a fact it does all of this. This is assuming you're watching the fansubbed version by the group Triad and not watching it on Crunchyroll or Netflix or something, I haven't watched their versions so I've no clue if they explain things properly or not.

So either the champ loses these games and we never find out until the end or final moments of Takamura's fight to find out something like "he is a cheater" or stuff like that.
Or he wins but we are left with a clue as to what is his deal. Whether it is truly just luck or something else is going on.
