Holy shit, Ippo is just 100% better than when he wasn't retired.. Time to throw some bricks at Sendo! What if they injure him and Ippo dresses as Sendo and fights in his stead?

Might even see Ippo mix outfighting into his style too. He was always one dimensional, so this retirement has done wonders for his potential. Ippo has always actually had the stamina for such movements, though he's canonically pretty stocky.

Miyata was like a babysitter dealing with an overly excited kid (Sendo). :ROFLMAO:

I have begun to love these chapters that introduce more of ippo's skills he's developed during his "rest".
I can't wait for him to get into the ring, but I like seeing the build up to justify his growing toolkit.

Morikawa has officially broken me.

Ippo's going to send Sendo straight to grandma by mistake as Miyata drops his sunglasses at the exact time it happens, mark my words.

Well this is the manga now; Ippo sending all of his generation to the hospital right before their matches. Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising if Mashiba's hospitalisation is a direct consequence of sparring with Ippo, because he got knocked in the head hard, then went on to fight and get knocked again instead of having time to heal.

I wonder when Ippo will realise he's somehow become more dangerous after retiring than before.
sorry sendo, feels like hardly a gotcha moment unless was aiming for ippo's feet leaving the mat. he both knew was going to throw feint, and blocked it too. but was also first contact so maybe thats it
Even through the guard, Sendo does plenty of damage, so yeah the gotcha moment is just that he's finally made contact.

The thing about the feint is that it made Ippo hesitate long enough to be unable to dodge, so it was successful enough. As for Ippo blocking it, he's had his guard up the entire time since he's fully focused on defense.

I wonder if Ippo focusing on defense might cause Sendo to lower his guard, making any actual punch from Ippo more dangerous. I also wonder if it'll go like against Mashiba where they exchanged some hard hits. Either way, it's fun enough seeing Ippo fight a bit.

I don't think that's how Morikawa would draw a shot that lifts Ippo off the ground. I think he jumped back...

Retirement has given Ippo southpaw, pivots, parries. His full form won't need to take blows to get close.
also adding height and depth to his strikes for the dempsey, which iirc also magically gets rid of the extreme physical strain from the stop-start motion.

He's 100% a better technical boxer than before.

I thought maybe we'd get Ippo winning a sparring round against Sendo the day before his title match or something interesting, but nope. We can't have nice things in current-day Ippo.

He sparred Volg and cracked his rib. I think that was post-retirement. He sparred Mashiba too before his world title match.
He doesn't want to fight Sendo, probably because he broke Volg's rib, that almost made Volg lose his match.
Ippo is too much of a goody two-shoes to risk hurting his friend right before a world-title match. Even if he wasn't, I doubt Ippo would have a easy time against Sendo.

Having Ippo win against Ricardo instead of Sendo would be awesome.
