That's not the point.
Ippo went downhill hundreds and hundreds chapters ago. Now it's getting nowhere.
The mangaka should have retired long ago instead of risking his health for... this.
As other mentioned, he should either delegate to other artists and sit back or do one full chapter every two weeks / montly.
Ippo right now sucks, and i hate it since i've been reading it for 20 years.
Pretty sure that's just you, mostly... and the obligatory handful of haters, as with any manga of course.

To add insult to injury, its not even on hiatus right now. What do you even have to offer? No one's forcing you to read it.
Sadly people didn't learn from what happen to Kentaro Miura and only care if Mangaka put out more content
They never do. It's just excuses and it always has been. When you freeload, you learn to take the good with the bad because you have neither a choice or a say.

Personally I feel like Hajime no Ippo is close to as good as it has ever been and I'm probably the most invested I've ever been in this manga. That Mashiba fight was really tremendous, even if it left me in agony.

Wanna have more giant rock panels? Fine with me, I'm all aboard Morikawa's wild ride.

I think this means that among his contemporaries (of at least previously the same weight class who fought him/sparred with him and started at around the same time) only Miyata has not been surprised of Ippo’s “growth”.
Though it wouldn’t be a shock if Miyata already have some idea about it hence, him proposing the spar to begin with.

Gantz (manga) devolved the same way, lazy updates, fewer pages with no backgrounds (or recycled scenes), stretching the plot without giving major advance, then all of the sudden axed or rushed to a crappy ending, let's hope Morikawa doesn't ruin it further

WE GET IT WE GET IT WE GET IT WE GET IT WE GET IT

i say this but it does get me hyped everytime they do something like this

I have come to love these chapters. I don't know when I shifted toward liking the "rest" arc, but I'm glad it exists. Realistically, Ippo went from bullied to non-stop getting his head bashed in. So, this level of rest is warranted.
I can only hope it pays offs when he finally gets in the ring.

Someone please tell Sendo you don't have to grab/move a boulder to get away from it, just walk backwards (shit visual analogy, Morikawa)

Wow, even less pages than before.
Morikawa you're a quack. If the series bores you to death, you should have ended it earlier rather than milk it to death.
You have to remember he's also being an ACTUAL second for the boxing gym he owns and pays for. Whenever there's a match for his own fighters, I think he tends to end up making less pages.

Morikawa is a 60 year old japanese mangaka. In general mangakas have horrendous health, that obviously gets worse with age.
A 7 page chapter is still him drawing one page a day while doing management work at a gym, that's not easy.
I don't think the answer is for him to do bi-weekly or monthly at this point, it is for him to hire people to do the art while he supervises and does storyboarding... Then again we don't know how wealthy he is too.

Having Ippo calling Sendo an idiot is brutal. Ippo really has come so far in these years since putting up the gloves he is seeing just how foolish he is being.
Honestly, this mightve been the most shocking thing in this chapter. Even if hes only thinking it, the old ippo wouldnt even dare to consider talking trash on anybody

fair point, but rather than giving 1 chapter every week with 7-8 pages, i'd rather him giving us 1 chapter ever 2 weeks for 16 pages.

and sure i respect morikawa. but the dude is running on pride nowadays. the right thing to do is to partner up with a good artist. morikawa can give the name, and the artist and assistant can help him out with the art.

try to reread this manga. the first 20-30 volume's art is so freakin good, the art these days can't compare.
heck, in the latter part of this manga, it looks like all the boxer skipped leg day.

yes, at the end of the day this is morikawa's art. but if you are a professional, you will give your client what they want if it's at all possible. if you cling to your own ideal, that's a hobby/ not a career.

I don't agree with either the length or the art. I'm happy to read the series however it comes out, and if it's regular that's even better. Ultimately it all smooths out and quibbling about a few pages in the midst of literally tens of thousands of pages seems silly.

And the art has always changed over time, as it does for many mangaka. Maybe Morikawa is experimenting, or preparing other chapters, or currently engaging in something else in his life during relatively low key arcs. I don't really care, it's still good enough for me.

And isn't it what people have criticized already? Some claim he isn't even drawing anymore. Any criticism goes when people just want to make a spat about Ippo not boxing. As if handing over to another artist will do any good. I wouldn't be happy that's for sure, I want Morikawa's art and I don't give two hoots about whether another artist is technically better or that they think art is just a product where the artist is replaceable.

If you want a professional/client relationship, go hire an AI artist to make 20 page chapters and an unofficial storyline to finish the story how you envision it instead of waiting for Morikawa to show you his artistic vision. As long as even an AI can draw better than Morikawa, it shouldn't even be a problem with your criteria now, would it?

If Morikawa stops drawing, I would prefer it's because he himself is unsatisfied with the work and independently chooses to change things up. And at minimum if he seeks fan sentiment about it I certainly don't want it to be from a bunch of whiny leeches on an English forum. Ippo is still highly regarded in Japan by actual paying readers and makes top lists, actually increasing readership slightly compared to last year.
