I dropped this series a long while ago and wasn't sure how far back to go, but now I see I'm all the way back to the fucking monkey fucker which was one of the things that finally made me quit reading in the first place

everyone's out here hating on Wally, but lemme just pick on how the manga talks about Indonesia.
Indonesia has a ton of unique animals and amazing ecosystems. But it's one of the worst countries in the world at managing this stuff. Deforestation, pollution, garbage disposal, soil erosion, foresr fires, climate change. They're bad at all of it. They're at the bottom of the list for literally every environmental issue you can think of.
Also they're like 50m above sea level, so a lot of the country is going to be under the waves soon. The capital is already rapidly sinking.
Let me just be clear, Indonesia is a cool place with a lot of stuff going for it. But calling it "a land that's undeveloped ... where people have found a way to co-exist with the environment rather than exploit it" is completely backwards.
