Miya made a lot of valid points here. I was always confused on why Eko contacted her in the first place, and then they talked for quite some time. Eko doesn't seem to understand emotions and is clinging to Risa since that happiness is just about the only thing she gets.

And yeah, it only makes sense that her mom figured out some way to stop the zombification or something... Otherwise, her dying here doesn't really add up.
