I get the sense that Japan doesn't really encourage sexy tomboys outside of yuri-bait stuff like Takurazaka review or whatever it's called (the all-female theater troupe). It very much seems culturally enforced that cute girls can only be cute if they have "proper" traditionally feminine features like long hair and makeup and tiny, petite, bodies that aren't super fit with muscle definition. Tomboy stuff almost feels like a fetish-level niche.

Which is a shame. The world is better when you can have a buffet of every flavor of hotness.
